A 70-year-old property dealer was found murdered in Shanti Van area near Rajghaton Monday night. The deceased, Naresh KumarBansal's throat was slit with a wire and then he was stabbed with a knife.
Police suspect personal enmity as a motive behind the murder and have also arrested a man, who had earlier borrowed money from Naresh. The incident was reported around 1.30am when a patrolling PCR van found a dead body, and a case of murder has been registered.
On Monday, around 5pm his youngest son, Pankaj (32), dropped Naresh at Subhas Park. "He had to visit a doctor's clinic at Asaf Ali Road for eye checkup. He said he would go to his office in Chandni Chowk after the doctor's meeting," said Naresh's son Manish Bansal (34).
When the family got a call from his office informing he hasn't reached there yet, the family began a frantic search for him. They first called on his mobile phone which was switched off. Then they called his friends and relatives. "When we could not find him anywhere, we registered a missing complaint at the police station," said Manish.
When they got a call from Daryaganj police station around 1.30am, they thought it was good news. But the call was to inform them about a dead body, said Manish. "The police called us with a photo of our father to recognize the body." The police recognized the deceased with his aadhaar card.
While the family suspect it is a case of robbery, since he was robbed of his two gold rings and a gold bracelet, the police ruled out any such possibility. "Someone having grudges against the deceased has murdered him. An unknown person will not murder anyone so brutally," said a policeman.
